Culinary Tips for the Best Almond Butter Toast
If you live near a bakery or your local grocery store bakes bread, look for whole grain varieties. Fresh baked bread tastes better and tends not to have added preservatives or other undesirable ingredients.
We suggest natural nut butters for the best nutrition. After purchasing natural nut butter and before opening it, store it upside down in your pantry, as this will help the separated oil mix back into the nut butter. If it still needs to be completely mixed in, give it a stir! Store in the refrigerator once opened to preserve quality and keep the oils mixed together.
Use older raspberries if you have them. They mash more easily!
Ingredient Substitutions
- Whole Grain Bread: choose from any variety of whole wheat, multi-grain, sprouted, or more. Make sure the first grain ingredient says the word “whole.” It should be the first or second ingredient after water is listed. Sourdough is the next best option.
- Natural Almond Butter: substitute your favorite nut or seed butter, but avoid options loaded with sugar. Look for minimal ingredients: nuts or seeds and salt. That’s all you need!
- Raspberries: sliced bananas, strawberries, peaches, and apples are just a few other options; however, no other fruit mashes quite like raspberries.
- Dark mini chocolate chips: substitute full size or semi sweet. Don’t use white or milk chocolate; they lack the nutrition that dark chocolate provides. Cocoa nibs would also work!
