None! It’s that easy. 🙂

Culinary Tips for the Best Peanut Butter Banana Cinnamon Toast

If you live near a bakery or your local grocery store bakes bread, look for whole grain varieties. Fresh baked bread tastes better and tends not to have added preservatives or other undesirable ingredients.

We suggest natural peanut butters for the best nutrition. After purchasing natural peanut butter and before opening, store it upside down in your pantry, as this will help the separated oil mix back into the nut butter. If still not completely mixed in, give it a stir! Store in the refrigerator once opening to preserve quality and keep the oils mixed together.

Ingredient Substitutions

  • Whole Grain Bread: choose from any variety of whole wheat, multi-grain, sprouted, or more. Make sure the first grain ingredient says the word “whole.” It should be the first or second ingredient after water is listed. Sourdough is the next best option.
  • Natural Peanut Butter: substitute your favorite nut or seed butter, but avoid options loaded with sugar. Look for minimal ingredients: nuts or seeds and salt. That’s all you need!
  • Banana: substitute with any other fruit. Sliced strawberries, peaches, and apples are just a few different options.
  • Cinnamon: substitute pumpkin or apple pie spice. They both contain cinnamon! We love spices from the Spice House! Click on the picture below to check out their offerings.
  • Liquid Sweetener: use any variety – agave, honey, or maple syrup.

Is Peanut Butter Toast Healthy?

Featuring whole grains, plant based peanut butter, fresh banana, and cinnamon, this peanut butter banana cinnamon toast makes for a nutritious and delicious breakfast or snack.

Whole Grain Bread

Whole grains are a good source of fiber and complex carbohydrates. Fiber is important for digestion, satiety, stable blood sugar, good cholesterol, and healthy gut bacteria. Complex carbohydrates are important for steady energy and focus.

Peanut Butter

Peanut butter contains plant-based protein, fiber, and healthy fats. These nutrients help you feel satisfied until your next meal. Choose varieties that don’t contain added sugars or oils.

Refer to our ingredient guide for helpful tips when shopping for nut butter.

Bananas

Bananas contain fiber, water, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. All of these nutrients help your body fight, prevent, and manage diseases. Worried about the sugar? Don’t be (unless diabetic); it’s natural sugar!

Cinnamon

Using spices decreases the need for salt, which may help reduce hypertension risk and therefore promote heart health. Cinnamon has compounds that contain anti-diabetic and glucose-lowering effects. These effects may promote steady blood sugar levels after a meal.

Leftovers aren’t the best, as the bread will lose its warmness and crunchy texture. We recommend only making the amount you plan to eat.
