Kelsey Anderson
Chef Kelsey Anderson, RD, LD, CNSC, RYT-200
Clinical Nutrition Consultant
Chef Kelsey received her Bachelor of Science in Coordinated Dietetics from Texas Christian University (’06). She went on to obtain her Diploma of Culinary Arts from Arizona Culinary Institute in 2007.
She has spent the last 13 years working across multiple disciplines – inpatient hospital medical teams, critically-ill nutrition support, private chef work, and school menu analysis. She loves to volunteer and has served as a nutrition educator for Cooking Matters/Share our Strength, a culinary nutrition instructor for homeless women, and an assistant with weekly meal prep for homeless, low-income, and HIV/AIDS patients.
Personal Nutrition Philosophy
Chef Kelsey believes that a healthy diet is all about balance. Labeling foods as “good” or “bad” is problematic and can lead to orthorexia & disordered eating patterns. When we are mindful and intentional about our dietary habits, all foods can fit into a healthy lifestyle. She recommends to beware of diet and lifestyle fads and to know your source – stick to evidence-based guidelines and recommendations. If in doubt, ask a RD/RDN or consult a RD/RDN-approved source/website.
Passions
Chef Kelsey is passionate about good food, travel, humanitarian and equality issues, mindfulness & meditation, and animals (especially dogs). She and her partner, Francis, live with their rescue dachshund, Chuey.
